Titanic at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana was Titanic's third chapter in our growing family.
Established in 2008 with the help of students Zev Steinberg, Eric Siegel, Paul Casperson, and Eric Roth, Titanic's goal is to expand to 4 improv groups on campus by 2012. In our short time together we have already performed at the College Improv Tournament, ComedySportz (Chicago), Class Act Theater (Champaign), and the Playground Theater (Chicago).
Our oldest groups as well as our directors are coached by Eric Siegel.
Eric Siegel is one of the founding members of The Titanic Players at the University of Illinois and has been improvising for over nine years. He has trained at iO, The Playground Theatre, and at Second City where he got his start performing with their Teen Ensemble in 2003. In 2006 Eric co-founded the sketch comedy group The Other Other Guys. Featured on Tosh.0, the Other Other Guys have performed at the New York Sketchfest as well as the Chicago Sketchfest, and has produced writers for the hit TV series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. In addition to his improv and sketch pursuits, Eric also performs stand-up comedy and has opened for Kyle Cease, Sabrina Jalees, and Eugene Mirman. You can see Eric performing on the One Group Mind team, Freud Droid, performing monthly at the Mayne Stage or with the One Group Mind Showcase team, Tricky Mickey, performing weekly at the Mayne Stage.
